Riyadh:

Today in Riyadh, the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language signed a memorandum of understanding with the Muslim World League, in a step that reflects the Academy’s direction toward expanding its international partnerships and strengthening institutional integration in serving the Arabic language, in a manner that supports its presence in scientific, educational, and technological contexts at both the regional and international levels.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Academy by the Deputy Secretary-General, Dr. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Abanmi, while the Muslim World League was represented by the Assistant Secretary-General for Corporate Communication, Abdulwahab bin Mohammed Al-Shahri.

His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, expressed the MWL’s pride in partnering with the Academy, commending its distinguished efforts and significant role in serving the Arabic language worldwide through impactful and effective programs and initiatives that have reinforced authentic linguistic identity and strengthened the language’s international presence across various fields.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Academy, Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, explained that the Academy’s efforts to serve the Arabic language — including building strategic partnerships with international organizations and strengthening integrated efforts in support of the Arabic language — are carried out under the continuous support and directives of His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Trustees, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. He noted that cooperation with the Muslim World League represents an opportunity to expand the scope of joint work and develop impactful linguistic initiatives that contribute to supporting Arabic language education and facilitating its use in academic and technological contexts.

The memorandum aims to develop cooperation between the two parties in the field of serving the Arabic language and strengthening its presence in educational and scientific environments by establishing an organized framework for joint work that supports the exchange of expertise, contributes to the development of specialized programs and initiatives, and enables the use of the Arabic language in its specialized fields, thereby achieving mutual benefit and enhancing the efficiency of linguistic practices in relevant institutions.

The areas of cooperation include several key themes, most notably: Arabic language digitization, the development of digital dictionaries and linguistic corpora, teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, the implementation of language proficiency tests, and the exchange of linguistic services and consultations. This reflects the comprehensiveness and integration of linguistic work across educational, technological, and research dimensions, while enabling both parties to develop joint programs that contribute to achieving their objectives.

This memorandum comes within the framework of the Academy’s efforts to strengthen its international presence and activate impactful institutional partnerships in a way that supports the development of linguistic content and reinforces the status of the Arabic language across various fields.

In this context, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa met with the Secretary-General of the Academy, Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, during which they discussed a number of topics of mutual interest.
